The funds raised through the Reindeer Games support Sport Nova Scotia in the delivery of programs like Parasport, KidSport and Sport Fund to ensure that quality sport opportunities are available to athletes throughout the province – because hockey just isn’t hockey without a stick.
Sport Nova Scotia
Sport Nova Scotia is a voice for amateur sport that promotes the benefits of health, personal development and achievement of all participants. Sport Nova Scotia is a non-profit, non-government organization representing approximately 60 provincial sport organizations and more than 160,000 member Nova Scotians.
KidSport is a national children’s program that helps kids overcome the financial barriers preventing or limiting their participation in organized sport. Managed and operated in Nova Scotia by Sport Nova Scotia since 1994, KidSport Nova Scotia has assisted over 28,000 children totalling over $6.7 million in donations. KidSport Nova Scotia provides funding of up to $300 per year, per child for sport registration and, or equipment. In 2018 KidSport Nova Scotia allocated over $630,000 to more than 2,200 children across the province.
Administered by Sport Nova Scotia, Parasport Nova Scotia (NS) supports and promotes the delivery of accessible sport programs across the province. Parasport NS is the first point of contact for athletes, parents and volunteers to connect with the parasport community.
Sport Fund supports the growth of sport at the community level by relieving the financial stress associated with start-up costs and equipment.
